Stick In The Wheel Win fRoots Critics Poll Album Of The Year
Congratulations to Stick In The Wheel who have won the 2015 fRoots Critics Poll Album of the Year with their critically acclaimed debut album From Here. Runners up for the Album of the Year prize included Sam Lee & Friends, Bassekou Kouyate & Ngoni Ba and Anna & Elizabeth, whilst other winners included Youssou N’Dour & Le Super Etoile De Dakar (Best Re-issue/Compilation), Lead Belly (Best Packaged Album) and Telling The Bees (Editor’s Choice).
Every year fRoots polls a panel of hundreds of experts, in the UK and internationally, to decide the Album Of The Year in the fields covered in the magazine – world folk and roots music. Since they first began their Critics Poll in 1986, it has become established as the most extensively researched and prestigious annual poll of its kind, recognised as such by being incorporated into the BBC Awards For World Music for the seven years they ran. Since 1991, there has also been separate sections for Reissues/Compilations, and in 2006 fRoots added a Best Packaged Album category.
