Richard Thompson’s New Album Charts At No. 10

Congratulations to Richard Thompson whose latest album Still has entered the Official UK Album Chart at number 10, his highest ever chart position, 9th top 40 album and the highest new release this week. The album also entered the Irish Indie Chart at No. 1 on Friday, and the overall Irish Chart at No. 26. The new album has been receiving unanimous praise from reviewers with The Independent describing it as “A brilliant, nigh-on faultless work” in their 5 star review, whilst the Sunday Express have called it “a shimmering gem of a record”.

For Still, to disrupt potentially stifling habits, Thompson enlisted Wilco’s Jeff Tweedy as producer. “It turned out,” Thompson adds, acknowledging the risk involved, “to be really good idea. Jeff is musically very sympathetic. Although some of his contributions are probably rather subtle to the listener’s ear, they were really interesting and his suggestions were always very pertinent.”
