Record Store Day 2016 Roundup
This year has seen the most successful Record Store Day ever, with a whole host of events happening at record shops around the country, some of the longest queues seen to date and the hashtag #RSD16 trending on Twitter in the UK through the day. Here at Proper we shipped over 27,000 units of stock ahead of the day with many staff giving up the Saturday prior to RSD to ensure all of our orders were filled.
Check out our gallery of photos below taken at record shops throughout the country. Don’t forget, many shops still have stock of this years RSD exclusives available so if you’ve not made it along yet, now is the time.
Pat Howe, our Head of Sales commented “We’ve had loads of good feedback from our customers who seem to have had a really good response from their customers. We fitted in as many store visits as we could to different shops across the country and it seems like there was a real event feeling everywhere. Record Store Day has successfully rekindled an enthusiasm for records that had long been dwindling and a buying experience that you cannot replicate online.
Every year shops get better at creating an event, reaching out to their local customers, using social media to develop their relationship with those customers. The ideal is that this helps them to not just get people along on the day, but to regain customers who had got out of the habit of going to record shops.
Our part in the process is to ensure that we take the best possible care in presenting titles in good time; taking customer orders; allocating the stock properly; and delivering in time for shops to do their thing.”
