Proper to Expand with New Warehouse
We’re delighted to announce our plans to expand, moving warehouse operations to a brand new site which will increase capacity fivefold. As well as a huge boost in storage space, the new 32,304 sq ft site at Graviton Park, Belvedere will quadruple pick and pack capability, meaning not just an increase in range and volume, but also in rate of fulfillment.
The build is earmarked for completion in July, with the fit out of the new warehouse taking place in Q4 ahead of the final move of stock and full opening in January 2017 once we’re through the busy Christmas period.
The move will see us permanently bid farewell to our existing Sydenham HQ, with office functions also set to move to a new building in Surrey Quays in July.
Said Drew Hill, Managing Director of Proper Music Group: “The relocation is an exciting step as our distribution business continues to expand, considerably increasing capacity and enabling us to service orders faster. We have worked hard to find sites that are well placed for our workforce and well served by public transport in order to make the move as easy as possible”.
The expansion follows our latest financials, which saw profit increase 250% to £272K as turnover grew to £21.6m. While the company has been expanding its roster via clients like Concorde Music Group and increasingly acting as European central hub for existing ones, the move proves the continued value of physical distribution. This was reflected in the BPI’s latest market report, for March 2016, which showed CDs alone still accounting for an astonishing 66.5% of all album sales.
