The Proper Access scheme was devised to enable a cost-effective method of distribution for small labels and artists to get their product available. The scheme has two dedicated line managers, Alan Levermore and Brian Showell who handle the entire process from artist/label to the store and hopefully end consumer. Access works by stripping out all the charges normally associated with distributors holding stock and charging labels a line charge for storage. Therefore, any label signing up to the scheme can have their entire catalogue available without excessive line charges per CD. The label retains all responsibility to promote the album and Proper Music guarantees it's availability to all UK stores who can stock the album or order it on a next day delivery basis.
