 There’s a whole heap of **** action in the new Mojo and we thought it best to bring to your attention pronto.
Dr Robert & PP Arnold have formed an impressive team and as well as the review, P.P. is the subject of a welcome back page feature. We also rate the album very highly and it will be the subject of a page feature in the next Properganda.
Tom Russell & Friends' album The Wounded Heart of America refers to Johnny Cash, Joe Ely and others singing the mighty Tom Russell songbook and offers “One day the greatness of Tom Russell will surely be recognised…” Tom also gets **** in Uncut.
On a jazz tip Tom Arthurs & Richard Fairhurst have made the beguiling Mesmer. Mojo offers “…together they have created a hypnotising album of glacial duets…” Your correspondent caught them at the Pizza Express and thought them quite marvellous as well. Tim Lapthorn has just released Seventh Sense, which Mojo also rates with the comment “An impressive third album…” Nice!
The review round give brief but equal rating to The Cosimo Matassa Story, recently released as a Properbox. It’s 4 CDs of superb rock ‘n’ roll and proper r ‘n’ b. Very Tasty indeed. Raven pairing of Dwight Twilley’s Sincerely and Twilley Don’t Mind also gets the **** treatment and we rate it a powerpop classic. |
