Properganda, our very own specialist music magazine is out today! Featuring the best new releases in the world of folk, country/Americana, blues, jazz and world music, at 32 pages issue 6 is the biggest yet. Cover star Richard Thompson leads the pack, taking us through his thoughts on his career and retirement, the recording of his latest album and top 40 hit Sweet Warrior, covering Britney Spears and meeting the queen. Jez Lowe is also interviewed about the writing and recording process behind his latest album Jack Common’s Anthem.
There is also a full-page feature on Nick Lowe’s latest album At My Age, Alison Krauss’ top 40 album A Hundred Miles Or More, John Prine and Mac Wiseman’s collaboration Standard Songs For Average People and features on avant-jazz bands Fraud and Led Bib and up-and-coming folk band Megson!
As well as this we have feature reviews of Joan Armatrading’s Into The Blues, Lizanne Knott’s Under The Burning Sky, Ken Hensley’s Blood On The Highway, a double-page feature on the BBC Jazz Awards and features on both Black Hen Records and the story of Free Reed. Of course this is in addition to the reviews upon reviews of the best new releases, all in a full-colour, high quality magazine.
And how much would you expect to pay for such a good quality read?
Nothing of course! Properganda is available for FREE in all good venues and record stores, including many HMV and Virgin stores, all Fopp stores and Proper Partner stores. If you can’t find the issue, we’ve even made it available online as a pdf download so you don’t even have to leave home to get a copy.
If that wasn’t enough, there’s also the regular competition to win EVERY CD featured in the magazine!
