This Bremen, Germany-based combo features Ray DeVaryo (the band's frontman and vocalist), guitarist Tammo Lüers (in the 1990s Tammo was a member of Tav Falco's cult band Panther Burns), bass player Andy Merck (who co-founded the famous Rumble On The Beach. Drummer Stefan Ulrich joined the band last year bringing in his serious skills and grooves.
The band is sticking to its roots - vintage rock 'n' roll, country music, soul and blues. But there's a lot more to Velvetone. Take the lyrics and the songs, mostly written by the band. Sometimes dark and sad, or humorous and fancy. Velvetone's music sounds like the perfect soundtrack for a Quentin Tarantino movie. Its melancholy and guitar-powered grooves are reflecting the bright and dark sides of life.
Tracks: Desperate Heart / The Kooler / Lil' Bad Thing / Mighty Hand / Smuggle / It Ain’t Right / Guess Things Happen That Way / Limbo Moon / Paycheck / Seven / Hot Rod Killer / Hurt Me No More / Go On Home / Yip-Yip! |
