Until further notice we are currently not accepting distribution requests from small labels/artists.

Although we endeavour to try and answer as many enquiries as possible, unfortunately due to the massive volume of distribution enquiries that we receive on a daily basis, we are only able to reply to labels & artists who have presented us with enough, good information and/or strong product that after our consideration, we may then have an interest in distributing.

I'm a label/artist distributed by Proper Music Distribution, why isn't my product listed on the website?

The main aim of the Proper Distribution website is to promote and supply regular information about Proper Music as a UK Distributor, to highlight and inform all browsers of the many labels we distribute and also to heavily promote the Proper Partner scheme, it's stores and related product releases.

As I'm sure you'll appreciate, Proper Music Distribution currently distributes over 400 labels, meaning approximately 50'000 product lines, which at present, is an impossible amount of product information for us to maintain. So, as a result of all this plus the fact the site is still under constant development, "until further notice" the site will only include Proper Partner releases, plus selected high priority albums.

I'm looking for distribution of my label/artist, what information do I need to provide to Proper Music Distribution for consideration ?

If you could please help us to help you by posting us your marketing pack or press kits along with samples of your product and including as much information about you and your artist/label as possible including:

Contact details, years established, product type (genre etc...), single artist or label?, If label how many titles in your catalogue?, Any planned UK appearances, UK promotional plans, marketing plans etc...

What about digital distribution to the likes of iTunes, HMV, Rhapsody, Napster, eMusic etc???

We offer a full digital distribution service supplying ALL of the major download stores and even the smaller independents throughout the world. Our service has very competitive rates and most importantly of all, guaranteed payments as all stores we deliver to are vetted and audited regularly (unlike some).

Do you distribute or are you looking to distribute dance vinyl?

At this current stage, unfortunately not. We'll update the site accordingly if this situation changes.

Who do you distribute your releases to?

We currently supply releases to all the major UK Chain stores (HMV, Zavvi, Borders), independents (including 120+ of our own Proper Partner stores), major online retailers (Amazon, Play, Hmv.com etc...) and also UK wholesalers.

Can I search your entire distributed catalogue on this website (not just the titles you have highlighted and listed here)?

At this stage, we are unable to offer a full catalogue search of ALL our distributed products. We are working on this feature and hope to be able to include this facility on the site in 2006.

I can't open or view your pdf downloads and documents, what's the problem?

I can't find an album that I wish to purchase from a Proper Partner stores website, does this mean they don't have the album?

Not at all, in fact all Partner stores will either have the album in stock or they can order it in for you if they don't.

If a Proper Partner store's website does not show some of our releases it does not mean that those albums are not in stock, it simply means that they've not uploaded the album details onto their website (they're probably too busy serving customers in the shop).

As a member of the public can I order products shown on the site direct from yourselves?

Unfortunately not at the moment. As a music distributor, we aim to fully support your local record store so we actively encourage you to purchase or order any product highlighted on the website from any one of our Proper Partner stores (use the store finder to find your nearest store), or from all the major chain stores or Online e-tailers. After all, you'll all miss them when they're gone!

What is the Proper Partner scheme?

It's basically a network of over 150 independant music retailers throughout the UK working alongside specialist music magazines and Proper Music Distribution, dedicated to promoting, stocking and selling our releases, covering all genres of specialist music.

Who can join the Proper Partner Scheme?

The Proper Partner Scheme is only available to UK based retailers who already have an existing trade account with Proper Music Distribution. New trade accounts can apply to join the Partner scheme after a minimum 6 months trade history with Proper Music Distribution.

I'm a record store wishing to open a trade account with you, how do I go about it?

You can either contact us on +44 (0)870-444-0799 ext: 0 (Zero) and request a credit application form and terms of trading OR Alternatively, you can download the trade only credit application documents from our downloads section (you will need adobe acrobat reader which is available as a free download from Adobe's website).

Please note you will need to download both the Credit Application AND the Retention of Title documents. Fill them in and post them back to us at the usual address (as shown on the homepage).

What is your minimum order level for retailers? (this applies to UK retail stores only).

Our minimum order level for FREE delivery via UPS is £75.00. Any orders dispatched below this incur a small £5.00 carriage charge.

What are your opening hours?

Our trade opening hours are: Mon ~ Fri from 9.00am ~ 5.30pm.

We are closed Bank Holidays and weekends, unless otherwise stated. We have a 24hr answerphone/fax service.

Proper Music Distribution Ltd is part of the Proper Music Group Ltd. The Managing Director is Malcolm Mills and all of the shares within the group are owned by those participating in the day-to-day business of the companies.
